Martin's notes: We had recorded the first version with Ed during the album sessions. I’d had a dream that I was this huge winged beast called a sunfly. It was a fucking great dream. I wanted Sice to sound like this thing so we did what we always wanted to do when we wanted to make something sound like something else; we put loads of distortion on it. I was obsessed with this song; I was writing pretty good songs by then but kept messing with this one, which isn’t much of a song at all. I insisted we do another version. I kept telling Geoff Travis that it was ace and asking him for orchestras and the sort of movie sized budget that this work of aching genius manifestly deserved. I didn’t get them of course. Geoff knew me by then. Geoff rules.
